It is summer time and for many people, at this time of year it is difficult to go inside and work out at the gym when outside is so beautiful.

Instead of throwing your regular fitness routine by the wayside – why not try TRX? TRX is a complete training system where individuals are able to use their own body weight to complete a full range of exercises in 3D. Since all of your regular body movements are in 3D every day, this fitness equipment takes full advantage of multi-joint conditioning.

“Your whole body is engaged while using TRX. It increases your cardio, muscular endurance and works all of your major muscle groups. There are no gimmicks, sugar coating or nonsense with TRX. TRX doesn’t lie to you,” says David Maughn, Can Fit Pro – PTS and Twist Sports Conditioning Coach, Certified TRX, Bosu Balance and Fitness Leader.

Unlike machines at the gym, which operate in a linear motion and isolate only a particular muscle at one time while the rest of your body is resting, TRX uses your entire body to complete every exercise. With your body being suspended in a variety of challenging exercises, anybody can perform a variety of exercises such as:

  • Push-Ups
  • Bicep Curls
  • Planks
  • Squats
  • Lunges

TRX has grown in popularity as it is portable, easy to manage and it allows users to expend a lot of energy in a short period of time, burning more calories in the process. It also only weighs 2lb and can be set up within seconds whether indoors or outdoors. So users have the ability to use it anywhere they go, as long as it is suspended eight feet off the ground.

“The TRX looks simplistic, but it really works. Anyone can use it despite their fitness level. The TRX has more than 200 exercises and all can be simplified to suit the fitness level of the individual,” says Maughn.

As the TRX uses every muscle in the body to complete every exercise, it is an intense core workout and it also exposes all of the weak muscles in your body.

“I call it the truth, you can’t lie to it. This goes beyond isolating muscles – this is a full body workout like none other. I swear by it,” says Maughn.

TRX is easy to manage, so anyone willing to change and challenge their current fitness routine can. Also TRX can be used outside, just as long as it is hung from a stable surface such as a soccer or basketball post. So it is easy to take your regular gym workout outside and enjoy the sun and get a really powerful and satisfying workout and in only 40 minutes.

Now that you know what TRX can do, next week I will share with you a complete 40-minute circuit using only TRX, my own body weight and David Maughn cheering me on. Here’s a sneak peek of what I had to endure:
